It is with great sadness that we announce that Life Member Jim Thomson has sadly passed away after a short spell in the Borders General Hospital.

Not only was Jim a Life Member he also captained the club in 1971/72 and had the honour of being President in 1985-1987 and 1996-1998.

Jim originally played for Kirkcaldy but moved to the Borders through work, he soon became a regular in the Jed-Forest 1st XV and then a committee member when his playing days were over. Jim remained on the general committee until 2014, by then Jim had been 7s Convenor for a good number of years and felt that it was time to pass onto someone else.

Jim was always a regular at home games, he always enjoyed the hospitality lunches before the match then the banter in the bar with all his old teammates and current players.

Jim will be remembered by all the Jed-Forest RFC players, committee, and supporters this Friday when a minute’s silence will be observed before Jed-Forest’s rearranged Premiership fixture against Selkirk.

All our thoughts are with Muriel, James, Craig, Mhairi, Robbie and Family at this sad time.
